Polonez Dancers

Celebrate 30th Anniversary
in 2019

We, Polonez’s dancers present traditional dances, music, and songs originated from Poland, through the creation and production of professional programs that both entertain and educate Canadian and worldwide audiences.
Our repertoire ranges from national and regional dances of Poland, as well as some dances from neighboring countries.

Over the years, our group has built up a repertoire of dances and songs, as well as a vast collection of costumes from across many regions of Poland.

Costumes make a very significant contribution to the success of all Polonez Productions, helping to define the distinct character of each Polish dance.
One of Polonez‘s characteristics is its diversity of hand-crafted vibrantly colored costumes, which have been imported from Poland or have been carefully replicated in Canada presently. Polonez’s wardrobe includes over dozen different costume sets which represent the numerous regions of Poland.

From the slow and romantic Kujawiak, to the lively and exhilarating dances of the Zywiec Mountains, we display the vibrancy and beauty that is Poland.

Poland's National Dances:
the Krakowiak, the Mazur (Mazurka), the Polonez (Polonaise),the Kujawiak, and the Oberek originated in the Polish countryside. They were so popular, that they found their way to the Royal Court, and were even incorporated into classical works by Polish composers. Fryderyk Chopin, the most beloved of Polish composers, used the themes and rhythms of his native land which made them part of the world's musical heritage.

Our Dance Group is named after one of the prestigious national dance of Poland - 'Polonez'
